PGI High-Performance Compilers and Tools

PGI Workstation, PGI Server, PGI CDK Cluster Development Kit for High Performance Computing Systems

The Portland Group develops and sells the highest performance, production quality compilers and software development tools to the high performance parallel computing market.

PGI Workstation

F77, F90/F95, HPF, C++ and ANSI C for 32-bit and 64-bit AMD64 and IA32/EM64T processor-based systems.

PGI Workstation Complete is PGI's flagship scientific and engineering workstation compiler bundle. It includes all features from both PGHPF Workstation and PGCC Workstation. PGHPF Workstation, The Portland Group's native parallelizing/optimizing FORTRAN 77, Fortran 90/95 and HPF compilers for 32-bit x86, 64-bit AMD64 and 64-bit IA32 EM64T processor-based Linux and Microsoft 32-bit Windows (2000/XP/Server 2003) workstations, provide the features, quality, and reliability you demand for development and maintenance of advanced scientific and technical applications. PGCC Workstation includes The Portland Group's native parallelizing/optimizing OpenMP C++ and ANSI C compilers. The Linux C++ compiler closely tracks the proposed ANSI standard and is compatible with cfront versions 2 and 3. All C++ functions are compatible with Fortran and C functions, so you can compose programs from components written in all three languages.

PGI Server

Parallel Fortran, C and C++ compilers and tools for 32-bit and 64-bit AMD64 and IA32/EM64T processor-based Linux servers.

PGI Server-class compilers and tools are for 32-bit x86 (AMD Athlon XP/MP, Intel Pentium 4 and Xeon), 64-bit AMD64 technology (AMD Opteron, Athlon 64) and 64-bit IA32 (Intel Pentium and Xeon with EM64T) processors processor-based servers with up to 16 CPU or threads running Linux/x86 operating systems.

The PGI Server includes PGI high-performance compilers along with the PGDBG OpenMP and MPI parallel graphical debugger and the PGPROF OpenMP and MPI parallel graphical performance profiler. Together, they allow multiple users to compile, debug and profile on any compatible computer networked to the system on which the PGI compilers are installed (a network-floating license). Debugging and profiling are constrained to at most 16 processors or threads. Executables are constrained to use at most 16 processors/threads, and can be executed on any compatible system regardless of whether the PGI compilers are installed.

PGI CDK Cluster Development Kit

Linux cluster development tools for 32-bit and 64-bit processor-based systems

Linux clusters now are easily affordable by any group interested in serious scientific computing. Getting hardware installed and a network up and running are just the first steps in building a cluster. The PGI CDK Cluster Development Kit contains all the software development and cluster management tools you need to get a Linux cluster running production applications.

The PGI CDK has the features you need whether you have legacy FORTRAN 77 that relies on Cray, DEC, or IBM extensions, or you are writing modern parallel codes in Fortran 95, High Performance Fortran (HPF), or C/C++. PGI's compilers are highly optimized for 32-bit AMD Athlon XP/MP and Intel Pentium and Xeon, AMD64 Athlon 64 and Opteron, and 64-bit Intel Pentium and Xeon with EM64T workstations and servers running Linux. Parallelize your applications using MPI or use explicit HPF or OpenMP directives.

PGI Visual Fortran

PGI Visual Fortran (PVF) fully integrates the PGI suite of high-performance 64-bit and 32-bit parallel Fortran compilers and tools from The Portland Group into Microsoft* Windows* via Microsoft Visual Studio* 2005.

High-performance PGI Compilers

PVF features the latest version of PGI's native OpenMP and auto-parallel Fortran compilers. PGI compilers are supported on and can generate fully optimized code for a broad range of popular high-performance computing platforms including 64-bit x64 and 32-bit x86 processor-based systems.

Visual Studio Integration

PVF includes features to enable rapid code development. The Fortran aware text editor supports syntax coloring, Fortran intrinsics tips and keyword completion. PVF also automatically manages all build dependencies. PVF is interoperable with Microsoft Visual C++ so Fortran sub-programs can call C functions and vice versa. PVF includes a number of DVF/CVF compatibility features including full support for the Win32 API. Sample projects include building Fortran dialog boxes, console and Windows applications, DLLs and static libraries.

A Complete Fortran Development Solution

PGI Visual Fortran is available in two configurations. PVF Workstation Complete includes a bundled copy of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 IDE—the premier Integrated Development Environment for the Windows platform, the current MSDN* documentation library, assembly-optimized BLAS/LAPACK/FFT math library routines, PGI's PGPROF parallel performance profiler, and a full boxed media kit with CD-ROM's and printed documentation. PVF Worksation Complete has everything you need to start developing Fortran applications in minutes. There is no need to acquire or install any third party software packages.
